Prof. Yutaka Arakawa
Yutaka Arakawa is a full professor at Graduate School and Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University
Dr. Arakawa received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering from Keio University, Japan, in 2001, 2003, and 2006, respectively. Following his graduation, he held assistant professor positions at Keio University (2006-2009) and Kyushu University (2009-2013). In 2013, he joined the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) as an associate professor, and in 2019, he was appointed Professor at the Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan.
Dr. Arakawa further enriched his research experience through visiting researcher appointments at ENSEEIHT, Toulouse, France (2011), DFKI, Kaiserlautern, Germany (2012), and UCLA, LA, USA (2018). His outstanding achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including the IPSJ Yamashita SIG Research Award (2011), the 24th Hiroshi Ando Memorial Award (2011), the 2nd prize in the MobiCom2014 mobile app competition (2014), the IPSJ Nagao Special Researcher Award (2015), the UbiComp/ISWC Best Demo Award (2016), the IPSJ/IEEE-CS Young Computer Researcher Award (2018), the IEEE PerCom Best Demonstration Award (2019), and a Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (2023).
Dr. Arakawa's current research focuses on human activity recognition and the development of behavior change support systems. He actively participates in the professional community, holding memberships in IEICE, IPSJ, IEEE, and ACM.
