Main objective

Our research focuses on Human Activity Recognition (HAR) using advanced technology to understand and predict human behavior. We develop novel sensing mechanisms, analyze data, and create hardware like wearable sensors and IoT devices. We also analyze web and Slack logs for behavior patterns, spanning individual behaviors to urban dynamics.

Additionally, we're dedicated to creating Behavior Change Support Systems (BCSS) by integrating psychology, behavioral economics, and information technology to enhance individual well-being. Our lab explores a wide range of technical areas including IoT, machine learning, cybersecurity, learning analytics, virtual and augmented reality, human-computer interaction, and language learning support systems.

Research Focus

  • Human Activity Recognition (HAR): We leverage cutting-edge technologies like IoT sensors, machine learning (AI), and edge/cloud computing to develop ubiquitous/cyber-physical systems (CPS) that seamlessly capture and analyze human behavior in real-time. Our research spans a wide range of applications, from individual activity monitoring to large-scale crowd behavior analysis in smart cities.

  • Behavior Change Support Systems (BCSS): We combine insights from psychology, behavioral economics, and information technology to design and implement personalized behavior change interventions. Our goal is to empower individuals to make healthier, happier, and more sustainable choices in their daily lives.
